Dear Valued Clients,
We want to inform you about an important change that may affect some of our services. Our software provider, cPanel, has introduced a new Extended Lifecycle Support (ELS) program for servers running older operating systems, specifically CentOS 7 and CloudLinux 7. This program comes with an additional fee that will be reflected in our pricing structure.
Why is this happening?
CentOS 7 and CloudLinux 7 are reaching their End-of-Life (EOL) on June 30, 2024. After this date, these operating systems will no longer receive official security updates, potentially exposing them to security vulnerabilities.
What is the Extended Lifecycle Support (ELS) program?
To address this issue, cPanel is automatically enrolling all servers running CentOS 7 or CloudLinux 7 on cPanel v110 in their ELS program. This program will run from July 1, 2024, to January 1, 2026, providing:
- Continued critical security updates
- Ongoing support for these operating systems
- Additional time for users to plan migrations to supported operating systems
What does this mean for you?
Starting August 1, 2024, there will be an additional monthly fee for servers using these older operating systems. This fee will be approximately 10% of the current license cost and will be reflected in your invoices beginning August 15, 2024.
- cPanel Admin Cloud License - $ 2.9
- cPanel Pro Cloud License - $4.2
- cPanel Premier Cloud License - $6
- cPanel Premier Metal License - $6
What are your options?
Upgrade your operating system: We strongly recommend migrating to a supported operating system for long-term security and stability. We can assist you with this process using cPanel's upgrade and migration tools.
Continue with ELS: If you choose to remain on the older operating system, you will be automatically enrolled in the ELS program and subject to the additional fee.
